Modern Cottage Guest Room Reveal ORC

We MADE IT!!! I cannot believe we finished up this room at the speed that we did. With most of the work squeezed into one week, this was one of the fastest turnarounds I’ve ever managed in my home. I am so incredibly grateful for all the help I had with this makeover, starting with my contractor buddy, Brittany from B&B Painting to all the amazing sponsors that made this room a reality.

I am OBSESSED with how everything turned out! From the dirty pink color on the walls to the moulding details – everything looks just as I had imagined. Let’s break down the room from top to bottom. One of the crown jewels of our guest room is the gorgeous Art Deco style fluted chandelier by Hudson Valley Lighting. The drama it adds against the cottage style wall details is one of my favorite plays on design. The black wood fireplace mantle is flanked by Alabaster stone wall sconces also by Hudson Valley Lighting. The craftsmanship on these light fixtures is truly exquisite. The tapered shade lamp resting on the chest of drawers is also a beautiful table lamp from HVL.

I chose a block print motif pattern for the drapes, something that always reminds me of home. The french pleats detail on top really takes them to the next level. I sourced the Ralph Lauren fabric from Calico Corners, a one-stop shop for window coverings and upholstery. I was able to visit my local store in person to choose fabric samples and curtain hardware. I went with a warm min-tone wood for the rod and brass end caps.

The bed from Apt2B, a beautiful transitonal piece with it’s upholstered headboard is a perfect fit for the room. Its subtle design does not overpower the other design details and I mixed a more modern dresser to switch it up. The chest of drawers, also from Apt2B has a stunning square edged detail all over with minimalist brass pulls. It definitely adds to the character of the room and reflects the black in the fireplace mantle. Speaking of the fireplace, I am in LOVE with how real the herringbone brick pattern looks! I found this electric fireplace at Build with Ferguson and it has all the looks of a real brick fireplace without the hassle. It heats up the room in no time and would be lovely on chilly winter nights when our parents are visiting.

Novo BP provided most of the moulding and trim you see in the room, they have a wide variety of styles to choose from. I found exactly what I needed to make the design in my head a reality.

I am slowly transitioning all our door knobs to these knurled brass levers by Emtek Hardware and they’re quite literally jewelry to the doors. The sleek, modern design paired with the linear detail on the lever is a perfect combination.

The framed artwork you see throughout the guest bedroom is all from Minted and the print and framing quality is one of the best I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t shopped at Minted before, you should definitely check them out for affordable artwork! I mixed in the Minted pieces with a couple of vintage needlepoint framed art I had – it’s always a good idea to mix in some old with the new.

On the mantle I have a gorgeous handmade vase from Jill Rosenwald who makes custom handmade pottery for sale. Everything on her storefront is exquisite and I am in love with the powder blue color on the vase she made for me!

The rug I had actually ordered for this room was unfortunately out of stock so as a last minute decision I pulled out the Loloi Anastasia Olive/Charcoal rug from my breakfast nook. It was actually a happy accident because it looks perfect in here! The dark greens offset the pink wall and it really grounds the space.

Most of the accessories and bedding for the room are from McGee and Co which is one of my favorite places to shop for decor from. The blockprinted bedspread is the perfect pattern to bring into the room along with the heavy cotton Elio Pillows.

I am so so in love with the mid-tone paint color throughout the room, Sulking Room Pink by Farrow and Ball. I took it up all the way to the ceiling and even painted the foors and baseboards the same color. The difference however is in the sheen, I chose eggshell for the walls and satin for the trim.
