Guest Bedroom Makeover ORC – Week 3

Alright, alright, alright! We are into Week 3 of the Spring One Room Challenge and I’m starting to feel the pressure. If you haven’t caught up with the first two weeks check them out here:

ORC Week 2

Okay, now that we’re all caught up let’s chat about what’s happening this week. I ordered a bunch of paint samples from Farrow & Ball and I can’t wait to test them out in the room! Make sure to tune into Instagram stories to see some live paint swatches!

From L to R: De Nimes, Inchyra Blue, Sulking Room Pink, Peignoir. All paint colors by Farrow and Ball

Next, I figured out what kind of moulding I want to do in the room. I’m actually not going to do any crown moulding because the room has an angled ceiling and I don’t love how crown moulding looks like on that. I am however adding casing around the window and beadboard on the top half of the entire room. For the bottom part of the walls I’m thinking simple box frame wainscoting for a more traditional look. I’ve done box moulding in my dining room before which you can check out here. Remember this inspiration photo from week 1? This is the look I’m going for but probably not in green:

I am happy to be working with Novo Building Products for a second round and they are generouly providing all trim and moulding for the makeover. I recently used the Faux Maple Wood beams in my bedroom makeover and they turned out amazing!

So here are the goals for this week and by the time you read this I may have already picked a paint color! Check out my instagram feed for the paint color I’m going with!

  • Finalize paint color
  • order paint
  • Put up Euca board to cover up texture of walls before moulding goes up
  • Check on order status for furniture
  • Look for vintage nightstands

That’s all for week 3 folks! Check back in next Wednesday to see how things are going. Until then, don’t forget to tour the rest of the amazing Featured Designers:
