The Best Perfumes for Fall – Tried and Tested

As the leaves begin to change and the air grows crisper, our senses crave the warmth and depth that only the best fall perfumes can provide. The perfect autumn perfumes can evoke the coziness of a woolen scarf, the crackle of leaves underfoot, or the inviting aroma of a fireside evening. In this blog post, we will explore six of my favorite scents that capture the essence of fall: Baccarat Rouge 540, Libre Intense by Saint Laurent, Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly, Chanel No. 5, Gentle Fluidity Gold by Maison Francis Kurkdjian (MFK), and Hundred Silent Ways by Nishane. Plus, I’ll provide a handy guide on how to apply your perfume correctly to ensure you make the most of these best fall fragrances.

This type of post, beauty and fragrance related, might be new to me, but I’m no novice when it comes to woody notes and spicy scents! Every new season brings its own characteristics and it’s the perfect opportunity to explore a new fragrance. I gravitate towards lighter floral and citrus florals for spring and summer but for the cooler temperatures I need a warm scent ideally with vanilla notes. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite scents for autumn vibes.

Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian – $$$

You have probably seen this bottle all over TikTok a few years ago when it went crazy viral. Baccarat Rouge 540 is a fragrance that took the world by storm since its release. Known for its luxurious and unique scent, it embodies sophistication and elegance, perfect for the fall season. Although it’s extremely common now and everyone has it – I still really love Baccarat Rouge for a special occasion. You only need a small amount for it to last the whole day. I’ve had an experience where I stayed at a hotel once and I could smell this perfume down the hall every single day and I finally met the lady who was wearing it – she definitely sprayed way too much and she said she layered it with the fragrance body lotion, plus shower gel! Do not recommend! Unless you want to overpower everyone’s noses around you.

Why It’s Perfect for Fall

Unless you’re in the middle east – everyone and their mom apparently wears this scent there and there are so many dupes for it now!

Libre Intense by Yves Saint Laurent – $$

Libre Intense by Yves Saint Laurent is a bolder, richer version of the original Libre. It exudes confidence and strength, making it an ideal choice for fall evenings with crisp air when you want to make a statement. This could very well be an everyday wear perfume if you’re bold. It’s the kind of scent that embodies modern femininity but you have to be a fan of vanilla to like this perfume. The best part is the smaller version of the perfume (1oz) bottle is not very expensive.

The intense floral notes combined with the creamy vanilla and rich tonka bean create a warm and inviting fragrance. It’s both comforting and invigorating, perfect for the transformative energy of autumn season.

Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly – $$$

Can we please talk about this formerly niche perfume, Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly? This is a fragrance that captures the essence of femininity and grace. It’s been my obsession for the past few months now and I try to wear it sparingly so I don’t get tired of it. I don’t think that’s possible though! It’s the most hauntingly perfect autumn fragrance. Delina Exclusif’s floral and fruity notes make it the perfect choice for those who want a touch of elegance this fall. I got a sample bottle of this before splurging on the bigger size because like Baccarat Rouge, this is also really expensive. I eventually bought it on Twisted Lily when they emailed their Father’s Day special offers and got it on 20% off.

The combination of Turkish rose and lychee brings a fresh yet deep floral scent, while the base notes of vetiver and incense add a grounding earthiness. It’s a complex fragrance that evolves beautifully in the cool autumn air.

Chanel No. 5 $$

Chanel No. 5 is perhaps one of the most iconic fragrance of all time. Known for its timeless elegance, it’s a staple in any perfume collection and a perfect fit for the fall season. I’m gonna be honest, most people I know don’t love it because it smells too powdery. I, on the other hand, love it for that quality. It’s definitely an older more mature fragrance so I recommend getting a sample before committing! For me it’s one of those comforting scents that I keep going back to.

Gentle Fluidity Gold by MFK is one of those unisex fragrances that embody a perfect balance of sophistication and warmth. Its rich woodsy feeling scent makes it a great addition to your fall fragrance wardrobe. I actually bought it for my husband but I ended up using it too because it’s so good!

The nutmeg and juniper berries add a spicy, aromatic touch that is complemented by the warmth of amber and vanilla. It’s a scent that feels like a cozy evening and warm fires.

Hundred Silent Ways by Nishane – $$

Hundred Silent Ways by Nishane is an oriental floral fragrance that speaks volumes with its rich, luxurious scent. It’s a fragrance that is both captivating and comforting, making it ideal for fall.  I first heard about it on TikTok when I was looking for more niche perfumes. It’s a Turkish brand that makes gorgeous fragrances. This is a great choice for a  special night out and I finished my 5ml sample within a week!

Why It’s Perfect for Fall

The creamy vanilla and rich sandalwood provide a warm base, while the floral notes of tuberose and jasmine add a touch of sophistication. It’s a scent that wraps you in its embrace, much like a soft cashmere sweater.

How to Correctly Apply Perfume

Choosing the right perfume is only half the battle; knowing how to apply it correctly can make all the difference. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure you get the most out of your fall fragrances:

Step 1: Apply to Pulse Points

Perfume is best applied to pulse points where the skin is warm and can help diffuse the fragrance. These points include:

• Behind knees

If I were to recommend just one perfume from this list that you could even blind buy (purchase without smelling) it would be Delina Exclusif. It’s original fragrance, Delina is equally incredible but much lighter and more of a spring summer scent. I haven’t purchased that as yet but it’s definitely on my list.
