August in Review: Modern Home Improvements and Bestsellers

This year has been a whirlwind. Between filming episodes for Problem Spaces, taking on personal modern home improvement projects, a family vacation to Colorado month, and all the duties of being a wife and mom, everything has been go, go, go lately.

But if I’m being 100% honest, I’m doing what I love, and I really wouldn’t have it any other way—except maybe an extra hour in the day to update you more frequently on what’s been going on! But until I can figure that out, I’m here to give you a snapshot of all that happened in August.

With a guest bathroom renovation, other modern home improvement projects, and a slew of some of my favorite items that you seemed to love just as much as I do, we have so much to cover. I can’t wait to go over it all with you!

My Modern Home Improvement Projects

So, the biggest thing that happened in August was that I finally started our guest bathroom renovation. My first action item? A painted wall pattern. That’s right, I started the painted wall pattern again! This time, though, I’m doing a hand-painted wall pattern! And although I know it might seem more labor-intensive than using a template, it’s actually been more relaxing for me. (Fun fact: Free-hand painting comes naturally to me because I majored in painting in college.)

While this is still a work in progress, I have to give all the credit to my laser level, which some of you asked about. As the hero of this home improvement project, my laser level guides my pattern and helps me ensure it comes out straight. After painting, I plan on tiling the floor, so stay tuned for more!

The other home improvement project I took on this month was helping my front door make the summer to fall transition by becoming an accent front door. I did this by giving it a seasonal painting makeover. However, I’m second-guessing the color choice.

I chose Moody Blue by Sherwin Williams (and used my go-to paintbrush to make it happen). But I might wait for cooler weather and repaint it another color. That’s the great part about paint—you can always redo it!

Bestsellers to Fall in Love With

My home projects kept me busy. Seeing how much you all loved my Amazon finds was probably one of my favorite parts of this month!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, I shared how I’m making my summer to fall transition by bringing out the fall decor and wardrobe. Regarding decor, I shared my best tips about decorating with faux stems while also showing you some of my favorite fall fashion from Walmart.

If you’re looking for some fun fall furniture, I’m absolutely in love with this sideboard buffet. I just haven’t found the perfect spot for it yet.

Those haven’t been my only favorite finds, though! As a mom on the go, I’ve needed a few things to help me keep my sanity with everything going on. These faves will stay on my essentials list:

Heads up! These are items in high demand, so treat yourself before they’re gone.
