Winter Wonderland Holiday Tablescape
One of my favorite things about the holidays is sharing special meals around the table with family and friends. Since we’re hosting a dinner this year, I wanted to create a beautiful tablescape to enjoy our time with friends I live in Houston, and we definitely don’t get winter weather too often, so I loved the idea of creating a winter wonderland tablescape to bring a sparkly, festive touch to my winter decor.
Welcome to my very first winter tablescape instagram story hop with four other fantastic ladies! I have to say that one of my favorite things about the holidays is sharing special meals with family and friends and since we’re hosting a holiday dinner this year, I wanted to create and beautiful tablescape to celebrate the season.
Living in Houston means we don’t get any snow or much of a winter at all, so I wanted to bring all of that winter wonderland feel to my tablescape and add some sparkle to my holiday home decor! I really had to step out of my comfort zone to step away from gold accents and incorporate more silver and frost tones in my decor. As you can see from my office makeover, I’m not much of a sparkle and glam girl, so this was a real first for me!
The first thing I did was lay down a burlap table runner across the table, this is a staple for me, I use it all year round because it just goes with everything! I had purchased a couple of garlands from Michaels, one soft to wrap around my light fixture and a chunkier one for the table. After i had the garland laid out I scattered some acorns I already had from last years party and put some fresh eucalyptus leaves at the ends and in the middle to make it look more substantial. The showstopper for this table are the sparkly trees I found at Home Good TJ Maxx for under $10.99 each! I chose a variety of sizes and colors from grey to white and a light green. To keep it looking visually pleasing, I staggered the heights of the trees starting with the taller ones in the middle and the shorter ones on the sides. Make sure you take a look at the table from all sides to see if it looks balanced!
For the place settings, I found really cheap white charger plates at Michael’s for a $1 each and layered them with speckled white plates I already had. Next, I folded ivory table napkins and placed them on the dinner with and on top of that went my salad plates ( I used these by Hearth and Hand). I had cut up some small sparkly pieces from my garland and if you’re walking around the garland aisles in Michaels or Hobby Lobby you’ll find some loose bits lying around on the floor! They usually let you take them for free and then you can use them as decor for your place setting! This year I also designed a menu for my dinner using Illustrator and I’m happy to share the file with you if you want the same menu 😛
We moved into our new home early 2019 and we still haven’t got around to decorating our dining room yet! We have all the basic pieces like our dining tables, our old chairs, a new light fixture and some bamboo shades, but that’s about it! The walls are empty and boring so I had to spread my holiday decor to include those too.
My favorite wall decor DIY here is the cute birch pole I got from Michaels and just hung onto the wall with some floral wire and a picture hanger. I wrapped up greens on it just to give it a festive touch and thats it! Next I did the silver hoop wreaths and the tutorial is on my Instagram highlights.
That pretty much sums up my winter tablescape you guys! Let me know if you have any questions and don’t forget to give these accounts some love on Instagram! They all participated with me in this fun holiday decor story hop 🙂
