Reeded Feature Wall – ORC Week 2

It’s week 2 of the One Room Challenge and I’m on my way with the reeded feature wall for my bedroom! If feature walls are your thing, I highly recommend checking the one I did for my dining room. We also added vertical shiplap in our office and that’s a very easy beginner feature wall to do!

Alright, so this week I’ve got a quarter way through the moulding. The whole process is saved on IG stories! The material for this reeded feature wall was generously sponsored by my friends over at Woodgrain. I am seriously impressed by their extensive inventory and competitive pricing! They stock their product at Home Depot which makes it very convenient to purchase moulding. If the particular moulding you are looking for is not available in store, they have regional distribution centers where you can order from.

I was inspired by Shea McGee’s reeded wall in her bedroom and knew I wanted something similar for mine. To recreate the look, I went with 8″ MDF boards for a border around the wall and the vertical panels. For the reeded look I used Fluted Casing (linking a similar one) by Woodgrain in no.1682 in raw fingerjoint pine. This moulding is reversible and the other side has a square edged look. The process was very simple, I marked my studs on the wall and started by nailing in the 8″ border all around the wall and 1/3 of the way through. I used liquid nails where I wasn’t hitting any studs.

What I’m working on now is adding the reeded moulding in between the panels and just using my nailgun with 1.5″ brad nails for tacking it on.

That’s it for this week! I’m excited to pick a color soon and I’m pretty sure it’ll be a light one 🙂 Hopefully this reeded feature wall will be done by next week (without paint that is).
