Tropical Safari Kids Room Makeover

I am so excited to be sharing with you my son’s tropical safari kids room makeover which is perfectly gender neutral and super chic! The real showstopper is the wallpaper on the ceiling which is where the room design started, along with the beadboard wall treatment. Let’s dive right into the room reveal pictures!

I wanted to take the builder grade room to something special and the first thing that came to mind was a simple but modern wall treatment. I decided to go with beadboard all around the room, and painted it a cool taupey-beige color that didn’t overshadow the tropical wallpaper on the ceiling and better enhanced it. If you’re coming from my Instagram you know I went through about ten different samples of paint before deciding on this one! (Sources below) The upper half of the wall got a fresh coat of paint in a soft white, Alabaster.

The real showstopper in this room has to be the large leaf tropical wallpaper on the ceiling by Milton and King. I fell in love with the bold pattern and color and immediately knew this was the one! To add extra details to the ceiling I added a gorgeous Art Deco style ceiling medallion by Ekena Millworks and a stunning black and gold chandelier by Jonathan Y lighting.

We already had the bed from before and got this cute nightstand to match, along with all-in-one bedding from Beddy’s Bed. My friends were very skeptical when I showed them the comforter that I had purchased to go with the bohemian bedding but I looove how the pattern mixes with the ceiling design and the rest of the colors in the room! I’m loving the mix of patterns and colors in this room!

One final touch I added to the room was the faux house around the tiny attic door which was the easiest DIY ever! Masking tape, some leftover paint and a spare hour in the day was all I needed to turn that tiny door into a reading nook for my son. I added the rustic book shelves to make it look like windows to the house as well as an easy spot for books. Enough chat now, guys!
